it's almost summer?

could've sworn april just started. o.O
DIY purple ombre paint chip calendar for the month of April.

Hard to believe, eh? I could've sworn April just begun! What the heezy. Anywho, with Time not playing nice and fast forwarding on me, I'll be taking a much needed blogging break sometime next week. Gotta catch up on various photography projects and Getty Images photo contributions so I can actually tackle non-photography stuff! That be nice! In the meantime: eat, drink, dream + explore. Copiously. ;-)

back from san fran! + happy friday.

matcha green tea pocky.

Arrived back in town last night from my too short mid-week trip to San Fran aaaand I brought back this: the oh-so elusive Matcha Green Tea Pocky! 6 boxes to be exact. Among other matcha green tea finds. And like any other self-proclaimed green tea addict would do, I've spent the next day doing nothing but enjoying the spoils of my green tea loot. Gah, I'm in matcha green tea heaven right now! Happy Friday, indeed! More stories of my mini San Fran trip - sister date with Nadia, matcha green tea adventures, Unite SF fashion show and all - coming soon!

throwback travel thursdays // vatican city 2007.

Nothing like waking up at the crack of dawn, make our way to the Vatican City in freezing weather, climb over 300 steps to the top of St. Peter's Basilica to watch the sunrise, then wait over an hour to get inside the Sistine Chapel. Yup. Cray-cray, huh? That's because it was. We didn't even get to see Pope John Paul II throughout all that ... effort! Would I do it all over again? Maybe just the Sistine. I could stare at Michelangelo's painted heavens all day. Absolutely one of the more awe-inspiring sights I've seen throughout my extensive travels.

Because let's face it, those 320 steps to the top of St. Peter's ain't for the weak of heart. Brutal. Dizzying. Torture, even. Once was enough!

I like butter. You like butter. Who doesn't like butter? You know how that ol' saying goes - 'Everything taste better with butter!' So let me tell ya what happened when me and V came across a table spread full of handcrafted butter blend samples at West Elm. Heck yah we shamelessly tried it all. 15 to be exact. All very derrricious. So derrricious - we had seconds! Shamelessly, of course, 'cause that's just our style.

Pam, the butter mastermind behind Butter Business Bureau, somehow achieved perfect taste bud harmony with her well-balanced butter concoctions. These butters aren't at all rich and greasy, neither overwhelming nor underwhelming on the palette. They're simply just right. Which I take as uber healthy, but that could just be me. And my excuse to eat more of it. What's even better is that all her butters are made with organic cream from grass fed cows. (Now how could that not be healthy??) Flavors like Shallot Citrus Tarragon, Black Truffle Parmesan, Sweet Lemon Curry will most def rock your taste buds. I mean ... in a just right way. ;-) My absolute fave is Lavender Honey.

But nevermind me. I'm just 'spreading' the love. ;-) Go taste and see for yourself! Viva, Mantequilla! (South Park, anyone? V will be so proud of me.)

Btw - Hi, Pam!

throwback travel thursdays // canada 2006.

A few snaps from me and V's day trip to Vancouver back in October 2006. When getting across the border without a passport was easy breezy. What's not easy breezy was learning the hard way just how pricey Canada can be! Like getting taxed twice. By Canada and the Queen. Not cool. Not cool at all. Despite the 'extortion', heh, we made the most of the short time we had in 'The Great White North' before heading back to Seattle, like checking out Chinatown and Gastown, but we would like to explore more of the outdoorsy recreational fun that Vancouver is renown for on our next trip back. Only a 4ish hour bus ride from Seattle!

30.

v's 30th.
v's 30th.
v's 30th.

This guy had quite the epic 4-day birthday celebration over the past weekend. All food-related, no less. Frozen bananas from Bananarchy, Chicken Pate with lavender and honey from Henri's, one of the best burgers in town at Counter Cafe, gourmet ice cream from Lick, Japanese soul food from Ramen Tatsu-ya, Lavender Latte from Bouldin Creek Cafe ... as well as food truck adventures with the usual foodie crowd and late night drinks at Weather Up with the guys.

Yup. V is one hungry and happy guy. Happy 30th, Love!

I'm miffed that the peach crepe streamer doesn't look peach at all! Doubling up next time!

i'm going to the unite sf fashion show!

Photo collage from SF Girl By Bay.

I didn't think anything of it when I entered for a giveaway offered in one of my fave boho design blogs, SF Girl By Bay. The giveaway? 2 VIP tickets to the Unite SF Runway Show on April 24th at the Conservatory of Flowers in San Fran. (Wow!) A good 3 states away from me. (Double Wow!) So I didn't think my chances had a chance. I never ever win these giveaways, but, ya know, any excuse to visit my favorite city in the U.S. is worth a try! So I went for it.

Aaaaand ... I won. As of yesterday. Me! Giving me only a week to book my tickets! But it's all good. The likelihood of me attending if I did win were pretty high pending if plane tickets were reasonable enough. Then heck yeah, I'm so there. Luckily I found some and so I gave a fellow world traveler friend living in SF heads up about the extra ticket (Hi Kim!), confirmed my attendance with SF Girl By Bay (You're awesome, Victoria!) ... and now I pack! (Triple Wow!)

The first annual Unite SF fashion event is pretty sweet. It brings together the fashion and philanthropic communities of San Francisco - supporting overlooked local fashion designers and artisans, while raising awareness to The Lunchbox Fund, a non-profit agency providing meals to thousands of children in the poorest corners of the world. The giveaway I won (valued at $225) will be part of those proceeds going toward the fund. Good cause, good sartorial inspiration, good creative mojo - and I'll be apart of it all! (Quadruple Wow!) Can't wait!

engagement photoshoot // liz + lance.

More re-edits from past photoshoots! This time from early 2011. For some reason the vintage touch didn't quite work with these batch of engagement visuals, so I, instead, just toned things down from the previous editing done 2 years ago. Less contrast. Less brightness. Less vibrance. Less is more?? It certainly has made my life easier! Here's what I got:
